Statement from NSFA President Regarding Today’s Vaccination Announcement

The Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture is pleased to see our advocacy efforts and the advocacy of our farm community, come to fruition with today’s provincial announcement regarding the second phase of vaccine rollout. It’s encouraging to see that our province is placing the agriculture sector as a priority and recognizing the importance of food security for our region by prioritizing groups such as, food processors and temporary foreign workers.

We are grateful that temporary foreign workers have been deemed as a priority in Phase 2 for the vaccine, as they play a key role in our community, our economy and our industry. Our farmers from away will continue to follow the COVID-19 protocols that have been laid out since last year, including their two-week isolation upon arrival.

We’d like to thank the Department of Health & Wellness, and the Province of Nova Scotia for their commitment to Nova Scotia agriculture and their continued leadership in ensuring the health of our communities.
