Meet the Truro Agromart Team!

Left to right: Rebecca Archibald, Terry Prescott, Megan McCully, Donnie MacGregor, Alana Bent, Nicholas Juurlink, Sandra Fisher, Alyson Bremner, Tim Fisher

These faces may be familiar to you, but we wanted to share a bit about the first-hand experience, agricultural qualifications, and industry involvement behind this team who are ready to help you with your specific cropping needs. You may not have known that Truro Agromart has 7 Certified Crop Advisors (CCA), 10 NSAC / Dal AC alumni, and a whole lot of farming background! That’s right, your crop production partners at Truro Agromart are farmers themselves, who care about your farm business too!

Tim & Sandra Fisher, Partners
Both NSAC graduates, Tim with a Plant Science Degree and Sandra with her Masters Degree in Plant Pathology, bought Truro Agromart in 2004. Prior to that, they both worked in the industry for several years, including roles as regional representatives with the Department of Agriculture, and holding various industry board positions. They now farm as the 6th generation on the Fisher family farm in Middle Stewiacke, with their two children, Luke and Abby, covering about 1000 acres of crop land in the Stewiacke Valley with a few head of beef cattle on farm as well.

Donnie MacGregor, Partner, NS Sales, CCA
Hailing from a dairy farm in Pictou County, Donnie joined the team in 2007, becoming a partner in the business in 2013. Donnie graduated from NSAC in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics and worked as a feed sales representative in Eastern NS before coming to the Agromart. Donnie lives in Kemptown with his wife, Kathryn, and daughters, Ellie and Myra. Donnie enjoys going home to the farm to help during silage season.

Nicholas Juurlink, Partner, NS Sales, CCA
Nicholas grew up on a dairy farm in Shubenacadie and graduated from NSAC in 2007 with a Degree in Bio Environmental System Management and a Diploma in Agricultural Business. After assuming many roles in the industry, Nicholas became a part of the Agromart team in 2012 and a partner in 2016. Nicholas currently farms on Linked Farms in Falmouth with his wife, Alyson (also an Agromart teammate!) and their four young children Marijka, Annika, Jozefina, and Kees. They have 100 head of beef cattle and grow various crops and vegetables, while being involved with the Hants County Federation of Agriculture.

Rebecca Archibald, Logistics & Internal Sales, CCA
An ‘AC Agricultural Business Alumnus with an Animal Science minor, Rebecca joined our team in the spring of 2014. She is the 4th generation now farming her grandparents’ dairy farm in Upper Stewiacke with her husband, Alex. Rebecca is involved with various agricultural organizations including Dalhousie Agricultural Students’ Association, Colchester County Federation of Agriculture, and she is the President of Nova Scotia Young Farmers.

Megan McCully, NL / NS Sales, CCA
Megan graduated in 2015 from Dalhousie Agricultural Campus with a Plant Science Degree. She lives in Great Village with her boyfriend Jonathan, daughter Addison, and her stepson Adam. Her boyfriend and family own Millen Farms in Great Village producing strawberries, lowbush blueberries, vegetables, and hogs. Megan started at the Agromart in the fall of 2016. She enjoys playing hockey in the winter, and in the summer, she sells Millens’ strawberries and blueberries at the Halifax Seaport Farmers market every Saturday, while also holding a Director position on the Nova Scotia Young Farmers Board.

Alyson Bremner, Annapolis Valley Sales, CCA
Alyson started working for the Agromart in 2016. She has a Business and Plant Science Degree from NSAC, as well as a Degree in Education from Acadia, and her master’s degree in Education from StFx University. Alyson grew up in Falmouth as the 8th generation on her family’s beef and forestry farm, where she and her husband, Nicholas, now raise beef cattle and crop about 500 acres with their four young children.

Alana Bent, Annapolis Valley Sales, CCA
Alana comes from a four-generation dairy farm in Clarence, Annapolis County. She graduated from Dalhousie Agricultural Campus in 2017 with a Plant Science Degree, and that Spring Alana came on board at the Agromart. Alana currently resides in Grand Pre with her husband, Theo, where they farm dairy and poultry with his family on Menkhorst Farm. Alana also is a Director on the Nova Scotia Young Farmers Board, and has started an online platform jointly with Alyson, called Linked2Local, that markets local meat, produce, and flowers to West Hants and surrounding communities.

Terry Prescott, NL / NS Sales, CCA
With an Animal Science major and Plant Science Minor, Terry graduated from NSAC in 1989 and has been involved in the industry ever since through various roles with Shur-Gain, Cavendish Agri, NS Cattle Producers, Canada Beef, and NS Institute of Agrologists. Terry and his wife Heather have been farming in Bass River for thirty years, currently with fifty beef cow/calf, free run layers, wild blueberries, and a small acreage of mixed vegetables and strawberries, most of which they direct market from the farm and through the Farmers’ Markets. Terry joined the Agromart team in January 2020 servicing agricultural clients primarily in NL and some in NS & NB. Many think Terry is native to the Maritimes, however he hails originally from polar bear country – Churchill, MB, as far removed from agriculture as you could imagine. He grew up in Sioux Lookout and Thunder Bay, ON, and then Ste Foy, QC before settling down here in the Maritimes.

Truro Agromart is part of the Agromart Group, which consists of locally owned locations in the Maritimes and Ontario. From Truro, we provide crop inputs, farm supply, and agronomic advising to agricultural, retail, and industrial customers in forage, grain, horticulture, fruits, and turf sectors across Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
