Minimum Wage Increase – Oct 1

As you have probably heard, Nova Scotia’s minimum wage increased from $13.35 to $13.60 per hour on October 1, 2022. Any hours worked on that date and after must be paid at the new rate, which applies to a work week of 48 hours or less. If October 1 falls in the middle of a pay period, the new rate must be applied to any hours worked on October 1 and beyond within that pay period.

The next increase will occur on April 1, 2023, when minimum wage will go up to $14.30 per hour in alignment with Nova Scotia’s commitment to raising minimum wage to $15.00 by April 1, 2024.
