Join us in strengthening mental health support for Nova Scotia’s farming community.

We Talk. We Grow. is dedicated to fostering a culture where mental wellness is valued and protected within Nova Scotia’s agriculture sector. A key part of this effort is ensuring that farmers have access to mental health professionals who truly understand the unique challenges they face—unpredictable weather, financial uncertainty, isolation, stigma in rural areas, and the demanding nature of farm work.

To bridge this gap, Farm Safety Nova Scotia is sponsoring 30 mental health professionals to complete Agriculture-Informed Therapy (AIT) training, a specialized program developed by the National Farmer Mental Health Alliance Inc. This training provides essential insights into the farming lifestyle, equipping therapists to build trust and effectively support agricultural clients.

Event Details

• Dates: March 28–29, 2025
• Location: Old Orchard Inn, Greenwich, Nova Scotia
• Cost: $50 registration fee for the first 30 registrants (The total training value is $1,200 per person, with the remainder covered by Farm Safety Nova Scotia through Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership funding.)

This 12-hour, CEC-accredited course will be delivered in person, with additional online components available for those needing flexibility. Participants will also gain access to a nationwide network of AIT Affiliates, offering ongoing peer support and collaboration.

Flexible Learning Options

• An Introduction to Agriculture in Nova Scotia module will be available online prior to the event. While we encourage participants to complete it beforehand, it can also be taken afterward.
• If you are unable to attend the full in-person training, any missed sessions can be made up through online modules. Please let us know if you plan to take this approach to AIT in advance.
